Privacy Statement

Description of the processing operation 
 
The EU&I 2024 platform  is a public and politically  independent party profiling website accessible at: www.euandi.eu. It aims to provide a service for voters for the European Parliament elections 2024 by providing transparency on party positions. EU&I 2024 is an online database designed for people who want to find out more about the political profiles of parties in Europe. The tool is based on 30 statements regarding relevant issues in view of the 2024 European Parliament elections, covering a wide range of contemporary policy issues and political values in European politics. Users will be asked to position themselves on the 30 statements. 

The European University Institute (EUI) in Florence is the owner of the website www.euandi.eu. The EUI aims to provide correct information at the time of publishing, however, does not guarantee completeness and accuracy as regards content, nor actuality or reliability of the information. Personal data will be collected and further processed for the purposes detailed below. The relevant data processing operations are under the responsibility of the Director of the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies acting as the Data Controller.

The application will also store the answers to the 30 political statements. If the user agrees to participate in the academic research activity, the user will be asked to provide further information about age, sex, educational background, nationality, party identification, propensity to vote (turnout), interest in the transnational voting space, and like/dislike attachment to parties. Also this data will be stored. No data will be collected which could enable an identification of the user providing the data. Internet log information and the data collected for academic research will never be stored together. As a result, the user having provided the data collected for academic research cannot be identified. 
 
Who has access to your information and to whom is it disclosed? 

Personal data may be collected only by the EUI services and units involved in the activity. Data collected for academic research will be processed by the academic team responsible for the Voting Advice Application, including Dr. Lorenzo Cicchi (EUI), Dr. Andres Reiljan (EUI), Prof. Alexander H. Trechsel (University of Lucerne) and Dr. Diego Garzia (University of Lausanne, Switzerland, and Visiting Fellow EUI). The data will eventually be made available in an open data repository for further analysis. 
 
How do we protect and safeguard your information? 

​All personal data collected are internally processed only by designated EUI staff members or agents and stored on servers, which abide by the EUI’s security rules and standards.
 
How long do we keep personal data? 

The EUI will keep personal data only as long as necessary for the fulfilment of the institutional purposes mentioned above in point 2. 
 
How can you verify, modify or delete your information? 

If you wish to verify which personal data are stored by the responsible Data Controller, or access, correct or delete your personal data stored at the EUI, please contact the Data Controller at rscas.datacontroller@eui.eu. You will receive a reply within 30 working days of receipt of the request. Remarks concerning this privacy statement can be addressed to data_protection_officer@eui.eu. 
 
Right of recourse 

If you consider that your rights under EUI President’s Decision 10/2019 have been infringed as a result of the processing of your personal data by the EUI, you have the right to request a review according to Article 27 of the aforementioned decision.
